Finnish Youth by Jouko Lehtola
Aalto has collaborated with the Jouko Lehtola Foundation to present works by the late Finnish photographer Jouko Lehtola (1963-2010) in a limited-edition publication entitled Finnish Youth.
It is a selection from Young Heroes and Urban Youth, two series from the '90s that best demonstrate Lehtola’s talent for portraying individuals who are both strong and vulnerable at the same time. They are people who find themselves in an adolescent borderland on the way to adulthood. Lehtola gains their trust, which he preserves with equal measures of empathy and respect.
