WE WANT TO INTRODUCE YOU TO A MEMBER OF THE AALTO FAMILY.
THE FIRST ONE WE HAVE THE PLEASURE TO PRESENT TO YOU IN THE SERIES IS ARTIST LXANDRA. SHE IS A BERLIN-BASED MUSICIAN FROM AN ISLAND IN FINLAND, AND FINDS INSPIRATION IN OLD MOVIES, NATURE, THE 1970'S, HER FRIENDS, THE OCCASIONAL SAIL ON THE SEA OF PINTEREST... BY EVERYTHING AROUND HER.
The aaltogirl is strong, kind and unique ㅡ and we know her to be so much more. We had a chat with Lxandra, who describes herself as passionate, determined and crazy.
She expresses herself through music, visuals and the way she dresses. Is there something you would never wear?
"A 'Make America Great Again’ cap."
We share the same Finnish roots with Lxandra, and AALTO is on a continuous quest to define Finnishness. What does it mean to you?
"For me, Finnishness is respect towards others, a mix of different cultures (hopefully this would be supported more in the future, but it’s getting there little by little), Karelian pies (vegan ones are the best of course), beautiful woods, blueberries, Alvar Aalto designs..."
The Finnish language is said to be hard and tenuous to learn. What is a word you would like to teach our readers?
"'Mielenmaisema'. It's such a beautiful Finnish word: it translates to "the landscape of the mind".
Lxandra recently won the Pop Category at the MME Awards
